pantone predicts a peaceful 2016
Our millennium is about to celebrate it's sweet sixteen (!!!) and it doesn't get much sweeter than Pantone's latest pick for colour of the year--BECAUSE IT'S BASICALLY COTTON CANDY aka...pure sugar. Aimed at providing a snapshot of the mood for the year ahead, Pantone has selected, for the first time ever, two colours: Rose Quartz and Serenity.
According to Pantone, Rose Quartz embodies a "persuasive yet gentle tone that conveys compassion and a sense of composure," and Serenity is "weightless and airy, bringing feelings of respite and relaxation even in turbulent times." The two colours together demonstrate balance between warm and cool and an overall sense of order and peace, but Pantone has revealed a deeper meaning, noting that they also wanted to capture "societal movements toward gender equality and fluidity" and "a generation that has less concern about being typecast or judged."
Two colours? A celebration of duality? We're on board! That's so Margot and so Maude. And to celebrate the promising year we have in store for us, we've compiled a collection of editorials that take you through the cotton candy flavoured kaleidoscope that is TWENTY-SIXTEEN...
*Just a quick shout-out to our pal, Jeanne, for reminding us that the colour of the year had been named--thanks for having our back, girl!
