margot + maude's guide to festival fashion do's + don'ts
With the Winnipeg Folk Festival upon us, we thought it'd be a good idea, nay, necessary! to take you through the do and don'ts of festival wear! Festival fashion has become a major genre the last few years, with all sorts of it-girls strutting their best pseudo-hippie/wanna-be-rocker looks at a vast variety of music festivals across the globe. Festival wear allows you to be a little more boho, a little more rocker, or a little more fantastic than your everyday wear. It can also get out of control very fast! And our greatest fear is that someone might confuse you for a background extra for low-budget remake of the Fifth Element (badass movie as it may be) or like, a bit actor in a high school production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Yowch.
Below is our guide to help you prepare for your next outdoor festival! Dress for comfort, dress for fun, dress for rain or shine! (With one small disclaimer: the key is to dress for an outdoor festival, not to dress in costume as someone going to an outdoor festival. However, if some of our don'ts are your standard of dress, then have atter and have fun! But as for the rest of you--smarten up!)
Below: Some festival picks we put together for you…
Does that make packing for this year's Folk Fest a little easier? Great. Because this year we will be on site seeking the best festival fashionistas to feature on our blog! We will also be keeping you updated on the coolest venders, food carts, and music. Lordy, lordy, can't wait! For those of you who don't have your tickets yet, get on it! You can get them here.
